Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions founders most often ask about Hamilton Commercial District Revitalizatio...

Free
Is the Hamilton CIP currently accepting applications?
The CIP is under review in 2025–26 but remains active. Contact City of Hamilton Economic Development to confirm current program status and which streams have available budget before investing in your application.
Does my property need to be in a BIA?
Not necessarily — the CIP also covers Community Downtowns and designated commercial corridors. However, BIA membership is a good indicator of eligibility. Confirm with the City.
Are interior improvements covered?
Select interior improvements are covered under specific CIP streams — it depends on the stream. Exterior improvements and graffiti removal are the broadest eligible uses. Ask City staff which stream covers your planned work.
Can I apply for graffiti removal separately from a bigger renovation project?
Yes — graffiti removal is listed as an eligible cost even without a broader improvement project. Contact Economic Development to confirm the minimum project size requirement.
