Program Description

Grants of up to $10,000 for community groups, non-profit organizations, schools and individuals running projects in Newfoundland and Labrador that prevent addictions and promote positive mental health. Projects must address suicide prevention and life promotion, prevention of alcohol-related harms, or community partnerships for mental health and resilience. The 2026-27 intake closes October 24, 2026, with $200,000 available in total.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Open to individuals, community groups, schools and non-profit organizations
  • Project must take place in Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Project must address at least one priority area: reducing harms and costs related to alcohol; promoting life and preventing suicide; or collaborating to promote positive mental health and resilience
  • Project must focus on one or more target groups: people with lived or living experience; families and friends with experience of suicide attempt or loss; families and friends affected by alcohol, other substances or addictions; Indigenous communities; first responders; 2SLGBTQIA+; post-secondary students; youth; people planning for pregnancy or pregnant; seniors
  • Request must be $10,000 or less
  • Private sector initiatives are not eligible
  • Previously funded applicants must describe how past funds were used and the outcomes achieved
