Program Description
Funds capital infrastructure and technology projects that improve tourism experiences in NWT communities. Available to municipal governments, band councils, Aboriginal organizations, and registered non-profit societies. Covers up to 50% of project costs to a maximum of $200,000.

- Municipal governments, band councils, economic development agencies, or Aboriginal organizations in NWT
- Non-profit societies registered and in good standing in NWT
- For-profit businesses are NOT eligible — community and non-profit organizations only
- Strongly recommended (not required) to contact your regional Tourism Development Officer to discuss your project before developing an application
- Project must support tourism infrastructure or innovative IT tourism products in NWT communities

Can a for-profit tourism business apply for CTIC funding?
No. CTIC is restricted to municipal governments, band councils, Aboriginal organizations, and registered non-profit societies in good standing in NWT. For-profit businesses are explicitly ineligible.
Does CTIC require cost-matching from the applicant?
Yes. CTIC covers a maximum of 50% of project costs. The remaining 50% must come from the applicant's own resources or other funding programs — federal or other territorial programs can be used to fulfill this requirement.
What types of projects are funded by CTIC?
CTIC funds capital construction and renovation of tourism infrastructure, communication and IT systems for tourism, innovative digital tourism products, and associated planning studies. Marketing and operating costs are not eligible.

Yes. Applicants must contact their regional ITI Tourism Development Officer before submitting a formal application. Officers help assess project fit and guide applicants through the application requirements.
