Program Description
A cost-share grant stream for Ontario entrepreneurs, businesses and incorporated non-profits undertaking economic development projects within Francophone communities; covers up to 50% of eligible project expenses.
Eligibility Requirements
- Legal status as a for-profit organization registered under the Ontario Business Names Act and/or incorporated under the Ontario or Canada Business Corporations Act, or as a not-for-profit organization. Sole proprietorships and business partnerships are eligible
- In continuous operation in Ontario for at least two years as of January 1, 2026
- Gross annual revenues of at least $50,000 and no more than $1,000,000 for for-profit applicants (at least $50,000 for not-for-profits)
- At least one full-time employee working 35 hours or more per week averaged over 12 months, or 1,820 hours per year. The owner counts if they work those hours
- Not 100% funded by the provincial government
- Meets at least one francophone-market test: operates in a census subdivision that is at least 15% Francophone, or offers products and services to francophones in Ontario, or presents a realistic expansion plan supported by market data to start serving a francophone market in Ontario, or partners with a regional, national or international organization to expand what is available to francophone markets in Ontario
- For-profit organizations are eligible only for the Economic Development stream

Check the revenue window first For-profit applicants need gross annual revenue of at least $50,000 and no more than $1,000,000, two years of continuous Ontario operation as of January 1, 2026, and at least one full-time employee, which can be the owner working 35 hours a week.

How much can I get?

What counts as serving a Francophone community?
Any one of four things: operating in a census subdivision that is at least 15% Francophone, offering products or services to francophones in Ontario, presenting a realistic market-data-backed plan to start serving a francophone market, or partnering with an organization to expand what is available to francophone markets in Ontario.
How much do I have to put in myself?
At least 50% of eligible costs, and under this stream your contribution must be cash. In-kind goods and services are not accepted.
Can I stack this with other funding?
Municipal, provincial and federal sources can be combined, but total Ontario government funding may not exceed 90% of eligible expenses, and a project funded here cannot receive money in the same year from other Ontario Ministry of Francophone Affairs programs or from Secrétariat du Québec aux relations canadiennes programs.
When can I spend the money?
Only between the date of your Approval Letter and March 31, 2027. Anything bought before the Approval Letter is ineligible and no extensions are granted.
