Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions founders most often ask about TACC

Free
How much can the Business Equity Program contribute?
Up to a maximum of $99,999 for individuals and incorporated businesses, and up to $250,000 for community owned businesses, based on a viable business plan and subject to other financing being in place.
Do I have to pay it back?
The Business Equity Program makes non-repayable contributions. TACC's loans, which the contribution is designed to sit alongside, are repayable on their own terms.
Can I apply for the funding on its own?
No. TACC states that all its funding programs are intended to supplement the applicant equity and finance portions of a business opportunity and cannot be applied for on a standalone basis.
What can the contribution be used for?
Eligible capital and business support to start, expand or acquire a viable business. Contributions toward business plans, marketing and other related business support services will also be considered. TACC publishes a Detailed Eligible Costs form, BEP F008, that defines the list.
Who is eligible?
Aboriginal entrepreneurs in the Coast Salish territory: Status and non-Status Indians, Métis and Inuit, or Canadian corporations, partnerships, associations or other legal entities majority owned and controlled by Canadian Aboriginal persons. Projects may be on or off reserve.
What is the NRT Equity Match Grant and can I get it too?
It is a New Relationship Trust grant administered by TACC in its service area. It is not offered as a stand-alone source of funding and must be applied for in conjunction with a TACC loan, and it is only available to BC First Nation community-owned businesses and BC First Nation individual entrepreneurs.
