Multiple matching grants for property and business improvements in Uptown Waterloo, with a combined cap of $25,000 per property across five main CIP grant streams.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Own or lease a property in Uptown Waterloo
  • Property must be located within the uptown CIP project area, which covers the central business area and surrounding streets near King Street, Erb Street and Bridgeport Road
  • Applicants who do not own the property need a letter of owner authorization, and tenants need a dated lease
  • Commercial or mixed-use commercial property for the Façade, Accessibility, Sustainability and Commercial Interior grants
  • No CIP project work may start before you receive a fully signed CIP letter of approval and hold all required permits
  • You may apply for more than one grant, to a combined maximum of $25,000 per property
  • The Major Activity Grant is a separate tax increment grant for re-urbanization projects over 5,000 square feet and cannot be combined with any other CIP grant
